March Enerbeer

❗❗DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED❗❗
Due to the planned strike on March 18th this event has been moved.

Student Energy is excited to host another Enerbeer on March 27th this time on campus!

Enerbeers are events where speakers from various backgrounds are able to share their knowledge on energy and sustainability in an informal and "gezellig" setting. There will also be free drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and snacks for all attendees!

This month our speaker will be dr. Wided Medjroubi, a new assistant professor at IREES! The topic of her talk will be:

"Open Data in Power Grid Modeling"
In order to analyse the mid- and long-term impacts of energy related policies, different modelling approaches can be derived. However, the results of even the best energy system model will highly depend on the underlying input data. This talk will discuss the importance and availability issues of grid data and focuses on power grid modelling based on open and publicly available data from OpenStreetMap using open source software tools. Two recent approaches developed to build electrical transmission network models using openly available data sources are presented and discussed, which offer a unique opportunity to increase transparency, comparability and reproducibility of results in energy system modelling.

Sign up now for this interesting talk, that will hopefully spark some nice discussions as well!
