Topic: The drought of 2022 through the eyes of the biosphere: A comparison of the CO2 uptake from the biosphere in 2018 and this year due to the drought.

Mr. Van der Woude is a PhD student at the RUG from CIO settled in Wageningen. CIO is the Centre for Isotope Research. In his work, he assesses the drought of 2022, which affected plant functioning and reduced the ability of plants to take up CO₂. Using CTE-HR, a new model that allows for rapid estimation of European CO₂ fluxes at high resolution, he quantifies this drought response. Besides, this response is also discussed from a mechanistic viewpoint.
