Speaker descriptions:

Kas Jansma, Msc is a graduate from the University of Groningen where he did a double masters in Energy and Environmental Sciences and Science Communication. He is now working as a science communicator and freelance science journalist for organisations such as science museum NEMO and TV programs such as VPRO Tegenlicht, a journalistic program that examines new trends and ideas in the worlds of politics, economics, and science and Het Klokhuis, a daily documentary show for primary school children and young teenagers aimed to teach them about the world around them.

Adrien Chanteloup, Msc is PhD Candidate in Environmental Psychology. His area of expertise is in the crossroads of environmental psychology and energy law, attempting to address challenges by mobilising multiple fields of knowledge. Adrien analyses the interest in and feasibility of citizen participation in energy governance with a focus on public participation in the context of the energy transition, examining the prospects for energy community development in the European context, as well as any other bottom-up initiative that advances the energy transition while evaluating the potential improvement of local democratic procedures and people's wellbeing.

Dr. Kevin Paulson is a retired Senior Lecturer in Telecommunications at the University of Hull and an active climate change researcher. He has authored several reports for the Committee on Climate Change that were presented to the UK parliament. Dr. Paulson is currently active in local politics and green initiatives in his community.
Dr. Annette Schlösser is a Teaching co-ordinator for the Clinical Psychology Doctorate programme at the University of Hull. She has worked as a clinical psychologist in the UK since 1997, and specialises in working with families, children and adolescents. Dr. Schlösser is a keen educator who enjoys teaching and developing trainees during their years of professional training, both as a lecturer and a research supervisor.

Together Dr. Paulson and Dr. Schlösser will do one presentation combining both of their expertise.

Dr. Bart Verheggen is a broadly oriented climate scientist working as a Senior Climate Advisor at KNMI and a lecturer at Amsterdam University College. Dr. Verheggen has a specific interest in science communication and education, which shines through in his work. At KNMI he works on coordinating and strengthening the climate science communication activities of the KNMI, by making complex scientific information understandable and relevant for both general and specialized audiences. Additionally, he is the author of the book 'wat iedereen zou moeten weten over klimaatverandering' ('what everyone should know about climate change'), Prometheus Uitgeverij 2020, in which he has aimed to do the same: explain complicated matters in an understandable way and encourage the reader to be critical of the diversity of information on this subject.
